About the Network
A national network built around a single scarce asset
Veterans Spine Network is a national physician network and management services organization serving veterans with chronic disc-related back pain. VSN holds the payer relationships, operates the authorization pathway, and runs the administrative infrastructure behind it. Affiliate network sites bring the treating physician, the facility, and their own referral relationships — and the network converts those referrals into treated cases.
How we're structured
A management services organization
The network exists to expand access to the Intradiscal Stabilization Procedure (ISP℠) — for veterans who are eligible to receive care from community providers at VA expense. Veterans are already being referred to trained practices; what has been missing is a pathway that turns those referrals into treated cases.
Pathway and protocol
The payer relationship, the authorization pathway, and the clinical standard — held centrally, applied uniformly. The clinical work itself stays with the affiliate’s treating physician.
Network development
Designating and supporting affiliate network sites across markets, on the same terms for every affiliate.
Patient relationship
Centralized intake and coordination, long-term follow-up, and the outcome registry — the one asset in this business that compounds.
The division of labor
State governs the room. VSN governs the medicine.
This distinction is load-bearing and it does not blur. The facility standard travels with the site, not the network. The clinical standard travels with the network, not the site.
Facility standards
Set by the state in which the site operates, for the setting in which the procedure is performed.VSN does not author, publish, or maintain a facility standard, and does not substitute its judgment for state requirements.
Clinical standards
Set by VSN, as conditions of network participation, and not modifiable at the site level: protocol, kit specification, documentation standard, follow-up intervals, and candidacy determination — the last made solely by the affiliate’s treating physician.
